Duo Core or Turion?

Right now I have an HP ZE5000 P4 2.0, 1gb, 40gb, integrated graphics. I need to upgrade and was looking at this Acer on one of the websites.

My questions are as follows.

1. should i go duo-core or Turion... I have always been an AMD guy for my PC's but don't care on a lappy.

2. is an ATI X700 going to be fine to play some games or should I step up to th X1400?

Using it for business stuff and probably some basic gaming.......

Thanks in advance.

I would go Core Duo for better all-around performance. I may be wrong, but I don't think the Turion can offer such power with such a low power draw. Someone correct me! In any case, there's no program I use that wouldn't run fine on either chip.

I believe that the X700 is comparable to the X1400 in performance, maybe a tad bit better even though it doesn't support SM3. The X1600 is definitely a step up.

good to know because I am looking at 2 Acer Travelmates on Tiger ... specs are basically even except one has an X700 and the core duo has the X1400.......

Dual Core Turion shoudl be coming out in May. I'm personally waiting for the Ferrari Refresh later this year and will pick up a new 4000 😀
