Hey, I'm workin on a new rig. the only part left is the cpu. I plan on playing black ops and mw3 when it comes out on 30+fps med-high settings. I was wondering if I should get the amd phenom x4 840 3.2ghz or the
amd athlon II x2 260 3.2ghz. I have enough cash to get either one but I was wondering if the duo core would work since its 40 bucks cheaper :awe:

i forgot to mention my motherboard has core unlocking.

The Phenom II X4 840 is actually an Athlon II X4, which means no L3$.

If I were you I would try to get the Phenom II X4 955BE ($10 more than the X4 840 on newegg)- it has L3$ which is important for gaming or if you can't the Phenom II X4 945 which is the same price on newegg.

Edit: You can also try a phenom II X2 and unlock to save some money, but since it is only $20-30 I wouldn't since it might not work.
