Dunno what all the complaining is about. My 512mb Visiontek Hd2600 Pro AGP runs fine.

WARNING !!! THREAD CRAPPING WILL NOT BE TOLLERATED HERE !!!
I have the local Mod's on speed dial so please try to keep this on topic with relevant replies only. If you break the forum rules by posting out of line or off topic comments here, you will be promptly reported.

For all the people talking crap about the Visiontek 512mb Hd2600 Pro AGP card, I'm suprised mine is working @ 688/1080 within the first few hours of use. Course it may help that I downloaded the latest drivers from Visiontek before I even installed the card :)

Anyone else get one of these cards from best buy and have anything good to say about it ? I'd like to know who has the best OC on thier Visiontek 512mb HD2600 Pro AGP

---

Edit #3

Okay, I realize that Visiontek screwed up by shipping almost completely useless drivers with this card but this isn't the cards fault. Please don't blame hardware for software issues. Also don't blame the hardware if you make an impulse buy without proper research as this may leave you with hardware that your system cannot physically handle ( like all the people trying to run this card with a poor 250 - 300w PSU ).

---

Edit #1 :

Up to 702/1098 artifact free now :)

---

Edit #2 :

Looks like the max for now with the stock cooler is going to be 708/1098 :(

The amount of crapping is flaming you rather than the board.

To others - this is not an approval to continue flaming the OP or thread crap.

3dmark05?

edit: reported for spamming forums.

Actually, I'm too lazy to do that now. But the way you started off the thread isn't very amiable. Someone should report you for bad attitude.

Tried to warn you rule breaking noobies in advance that I'd report you and yet you still had to throw in your 2 cents worth of Jerry Springer comments. Hope you guys enjoy your vacation.

I hate to make more work for the mods by having to report people, but if it'll make the forums a friendlier place for the rest of us, its worth it in the end.

As far as 3DMark05 and 06 scores go I'ma do that tonight with and without the OC. I'm also gonna try the Crysis demo o_O though I doubt that will go over well with a P4 3ghz/512/800 even with 2gb Pc3200.

Guys, this is a $25 card that goes into systems from 2003+. It'd be awesome if a $25 piece of hardware could be pushed to the point of playing something modern.

Just think of all the other gamers you know who are still stuck on a 2.8 ghz P4 with a 4200ti or 9600 Pro. For $25 this could be an awesome upgrade that stretches their ghetto hardware another season.

A very cool experiment. True hardware enthusiasts wouldn't be squatting to take a dump on this.

Dunno about pushing it to play modern games, I'll find out this evening if this card with my P4 rig will play Crysis and if so if it'd be worth overclocking in newer games.

I'ma test out CoD4 and Crysis on the machine tonight both at the stock 600/810 and 708/1098. Any other games that anyone can think of that would be a good experiment for this card ?

Just out of curiosity .Whats its score at 3d mark 06.?
I can compare it to my old 7800gs agp with my slow ass pent 4.

My pent 4 and 7800gs @ 500 core, 1440 ram can run most modern games except Crysis decent at low/med setting.

You talk about people complaining/bitching etc about this card... Is there something specific about the HD2600 AGP, or is it just the usual "AGP is dead comments". Please don't take this as a flame of your card, I'm genuinely curious.

Nitro, this is a 64 bit version of the 2600 'Pro'. So it's more of a... 2400XT OC. Still, could be a pretty decent $25 performance upgrade. We don't know yet.

OP is just happy he got a great deal from bestbuy on this card. I too got on the deal for 2600xt 512mb for $45 at bestbuy. its a great upgrade for my old p4 with ti4200 turing it into a "HTPC" All that for $45, compared it was pretty much a deadweight, well worth it.

you aren't leet just because you can spend the dough for the latest and greatest.... finding a great deal and putting junk to use is great! not a noob...

There is a whole general complaint about ATI and its support for AGP graphics cards, google it and you can find them. In short, ppl had to hack around ATI files to make the AGP version work but since 8.3 its been pretty much a non issue.

I dont think any more than one or two idiots would have flamed him, if that. At worst people might have asked why he bought the card. I figure most of the "flaming" came because he was a total dick in his OP and therefore deserved it.

Actually people have been complaining about the Visiontek HD 2600 Pro AGP cards because they keep trying to use the drivers that come on the CD whic although Visiontek should know better than to ship cards with drivers that don't work right, anyone that knows better should DL the latest drivers prior to install anyways. So basically people are pissed at the card/Visiontek for thier own ignorance ( not stupidity as they don't know better ).

Oh, thanks for the "total dick" part. Might as well live up to your expectations and report you for thread crapping now :) I'm not being a dick, I'm simply letting the flamers/thread crappers know that rule breaking will not be tollerated 1 tincy wincy bit by me ;)

You should change your writing style, it just pretty much entices people to flame you.

Anyway, whether people should know better or not, I think they pretty much have a right to complain about a video card not shipping with the right drivers. What if they don't have access to another computer and it's a new build? Even if the shipping drivers are not optimal, they should at least work.

So your title is wrong, you do know why people are complaining. You just took an extra step that should not be required so what they are complaining about doesn't affect you personally.

True on the shipping the card with more or less useless drivers bit, but it's still not the cards fault which is where people are trying to lay the blame saying that the card is worthless and won't work right. The guy I got the card from couldn't get this card to work at all, he also had a 300w PSU which is prob why. Now is him having a weak PSU the cards fault ? Nope, and he wasn't blaming the card, simply the fact that he made an impulse buy without knowing if his system even had the power to run the card properly, which it didn't.

Anyways, lets try to stay on track here. My OP strictly asks for input from people that have actually had a good experience from this specific card. If anyone hasn't then I don't mind them saying so as maybe I and the others who got our cards working can help them out.

Oh, if my OP happens to "entice someone" to flame me, I'll make sure to be quick with reporting them before they can spread their ignorance in someones thread who isn't quite as understanding as I am :) And by that I mean someone that understands the proper way to deal with them by letting the mods give them a quiet little vacation where we can all be spared thier idiotic comments ;)

Dazed and Confused I havn't seen anyone in this particular thread flame you for anything other then being rude which IMO is 100% deserved ... perhaps you would be more successful if you were to try leading by example instead of making threats?

The subject of the 3d performance of a very low-end & inexpensive AGP video card might have interested a few people here & lead to an interesting thread with a different approach on your part.

Do you really expect the mods to ban someone just because you reported them?

Perhaps you should read Derek's post at the end of this thread, as it applies here too.

First off, me telling people not to break the rules isnt rude any more than a Police officer telling you not to speed is rude. Uh oh, SAME THING !

Secondly, Low end AGP card ? A 512kb Cirrus card is "Low end" the FX5200 is "low end" . The HD2400 AGP card is "Low end" . The HD2600 Pro is closer to "Mid range" AGP as we don't have the luxury of Pci-E owners to have as many available current gen cards. The X1950XT, 7950GT and 3850 are all considered "High end" AGP cards though by todays standard on PCi-E they'd be "mid range" . Available technology limits the phrases low, mid and high end on AGP.

So $25 for a current gen "Mid range" AGP card is damned good.

Oh, the benchmarking is gonna be delayed as 3DMark05 and 06 are freezing on me at the loading screen, I'ma try to fix and bench the system tonight.

Sounds like a great purchase, sounds like it's running great. :) I don't think any 64 bit bus card can be considered mid range.
