Dunkin Donuts, Tip or No?

lxskllr

No Lifer
Dunkin Donuts, as well as a few other counter serve businesses leave cups out for tips. Do any of you leave a tip in this case? I usually do, but I'm slightly resentful of it. Traditionally that isn't a tipping situation, but it seems like some people are trying to change that.

They get paid to make coffee, so no.

I'm more partial to tip at a local mom and pop joint than a franchise, and by tip I mean keep the change.

The little tip jars/coffee cups at Starbucks and dunkin's etc.???

I just use them as the "leave a penny, take a penny" bins.

I don't get this tip just to tip. Tip people who deserve it not just cus you are supposed to or cus they leave a tip jar. If you have to rely on tips to make a decent living then get a better job.

i tip for food deliveries, table service, drinks, and significant extra work from someone. also baggage handling on the very few times ive needed the extra hand.

im not gonna tip for simple counter service.

Since all waiters/waitress's rely on tips to earn their income they should be tipped unless the service was crappy. If your too cheap or can't afford the gratuity then stay home or get fast food..

They get paid minimum wage here in Cali so if they don't like a minimum wage job then they can go somewhere else.

This. You don't tip at McDonald's, so why tip at Dunkin' Donuts?

I wasn't referring to the counter girl at DD, but at a restaurant. I can see your plan though, "she forgot my straw, bingo, now I can feel OK about being a cheap prick"..

lol yeah pick something idiotic to try to make a point.

I wish they would stop raising the price of their coffee, a medium cup is now $1.71 after tax.. ridiculous even though it's so good.

I drop pennies in. Nothing significant.

My first time ordering bubble tea for a friend, I got swarmed by 2 waitresses at the counter. It was a counter slash tea-place, and they put the bill on a restaurant "bill dish" with change. I left nothing. Damn guilt trippers.

Over the years there have been a couple of Dunkin Donuts' that have done a very good job for me. They know my coffee preferences, sometimes slip extra donuts or munchkins when I get snacks for my guys, that sort of thing. They're even usually pleasant. Good work, deserve the tip.

Why exactly would you tip at Dunkin' Donuts?

They poured you a cup of coffee in a McDonalds type environment. Do you tip at McDonalds? Did they bus your table or bring your coffee to you in a dining room?

A tip at local coffee shops. Often gets me a free refill or something.

Bingo!!, winner, tell the el-cheapos in this thread that tightwads get the slowest service and the coldest pizza every time, once your made as someone who is to cheap to tip that's what's gonna happen..
