Dungeon Siege Problem. Need copy of one of the .dres files.

File corrupt on the CD? Basically, get an error message when I try to install, and also if I just try to copy the file off the CD. File is located in:

\dsiege\resources\voices.dsres

It's approx a 44 mb file.

If someone would be so kind as to upload and host this file for me, i'd greatly appreciate it.

Nope. Don't know what the deal is. Few hairline scratches, but i've had CD's with more wear read fine.

Tried reading with my Pioneer DVD and TDK CDRW drives. No dice on either.

Give us a display of all the files that end with 'dsres' with file lengths, and I'll see if they are different from mine. They should all be in the same directory.

I can see on the CD it's supposed to be 44 mb, but in the installation directory, it's only about 3 mb. And when I start the game, I get an error message about voices.dsres being corrupt or something to that effect. I'm at work now, so not able to do a SS.

You can't just copy the file. I had the same problem with the single player world map. Luckily a friend of mine had the game too and I just put the map on cd. See if you can find someone local because most people are leery of just giving people files which could support piracy. Especially talking about it on a forum.

What you guys want? Pics of my cd's?

I can take some this afternoon and post them along with screen shots if it'll ease your mind.

ok..try this.
Get isobuster and try to copy contents of the CD to your HD and see if the file copies correctly. I have "recovered" some files from bad CDs this way.

Good idea Z.

I went home and got the cd's on my lunch break, and was able to copy the file over on my work PC. so I burned it on a cd-r. Go figure. I did kind of "hiccup" when it was copying the file, but it managed to pull thru. So maybe it's a quirky CD, and my drives just don't like it.

How long have you had the game? If you bought it locally, most places will let you exchange defective disks for a new set. That way, you'll avoid the problem in the future if you have to reinstall.
