He saw The Golden Path for humankind and what he would need to become to guide them through it. It was too much.

and just what was the Golden Path.
You see I read the books, all of them including where his son becomes a worm but i still didn't understand what the golden path was. was the point to get humanity weened from Spice?

Golden path = how to save humanity from destroying itself or being destroyed by someone else imho.
