I hope it's better than the one released in the 80's. That one was garbage.

Do we know the estimated runtime? This deserves at least 3 hours for it to not feel rushed like the 70's version.

I wonder if we will also see the space guild, and it's navigator. Interestingly the spice is never mentioned once in the trailer haha.

I hope it's better than the one released in the 80's. That one was garbage.

The first half wasn't too bad, its just that they rushed the second half of the movie after a certain figure dies. Although this version seems to be following the same path, I hope it has a longer run time. This could easily have 3 squeals.

AFAIK he's making a two parter out of the first book. And I can't think of any reason why he wouldn't show the navigator.

I have mixed feelings.
this has been predicted for decades, but it looks like somebody finally decided to follow thru.

Cautiously optimistic about this, IMO Denis Villeneuve hasn't made a bad movie yet. I just hope it's gonna release this year.
hopefully this will be better than all the other duds before it (movies and tv mini-series)

So pumped for this. I need to reread the book again, love this story.

My wife nixed my suggestion of naming our first son Duncan. She just didn't understand, maybe once she sees the movie she will regret it. :)

haven't read this book in over 20 years, just downloaded it to my kindle to freshen up before the movie gets released. Odds are that will just disappoint me but you never know.

OP pretty much said it for me, I'm cautiously optimistic here as well.

I like that he's doing it in two sittings, that bodes well IMO. With decent actors and so much better bang for the buck in special effects these days, this story might finally get a worthy movie.

Timothee Chalamet does seem like a great choice for Paul Atreides.

I would watch this cast assemble Ikea furniture.

So yes. Will be seeing.

Or maybe she knows about Duncans being zombies.

I actually didn't mind the tv mini series that the Scifi channel put out. Yeah it had it's problems but overall I thought it was pretty good for what it is.
As far as this new goes I guess we will see. I'm not going to judge anything off a 3 minute trailer that looks good. I've been fooled to many times.....
