It is more complex than a Jerry Bruckheimer movie, but quite a bit better.

no doubt, they tried to cover too much of the book, kind of like the Lord of the Rings (animated version).

dune is just too complex a book to cover with one movie.

if you think about it, Patrick Stewarts character from STNG, (Captain Picard) is very similar to what i imagined Duke Etraides would have been.

the role PS played was cool (warrior) but he would have been cool as the Duke also.

Pickard would have been the perfect Teg from the later books. But anyway it was a pretty cool movie. Even the hour or so of set up they did at the beginning with the paintings was pretty cool.

Had the movie been condensed down it would have made no sense whatsoever. It's a great movie if you've read the book first.

It is a good movie but I think that the parts that divert from the story line of the book really are odd. The sci-fi mini-series was truer to the book. This one had a lot of Lynch's creative interpretation involved.
