dumping physical memory?

what is that? i've been getting it a lot lately

the screen comes out of nowhere and it says something like "dumping physical memory to hard disk" then it starts counting.. up to 90something it stops and reboots

anybody know what that means? if i can do anything to stop that?

*i wasnt going on standby btw

and its not overclocked

win2k server
512 ddr pc2100
amd xp 1700

That's the blue screen of death for windows. The physical memory dump is when everything in the RAM is tranferred to the hard drive so no information in the RAM is lost. You may be able to change the settings in the system properties, but I'm not totally sure that Win 2k server will allow you to do that.

The reason you are getting this screen is because your system has encountered an error. If you could provide a little more info, then I will be able to tell you if it is a hardware of software issue.

Oh, it's lost The dump is to help developers determine the full system state at the time of the crash.
