Dump question time again

Is it possible to take a fan off a Zalman 7000 (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=35-118-109&depa=0) and stick it on a stock AMD heatsink? I purchased the fan on recommendations of its silence, but I'd rather not gunk around with taking the heatsink off the chip. Can I just unscrew the fan off the Zalman and put it on the AMD stock heatsink (by the way, I know the heatsink on the Zalman is probably better. However, I weighed it, and I'd really rather not mess around with the current heatsink now that it's in place).

Um, that'd be a big no. At least not by conventional means, I'm sure everything has been done at least once 😛

It's not hard to take the heatsink off the chip. Run this video clip and then imagine it running backwards. You can do it 🙂 Put a credit card on the mobo's surface to protect it in case your screwdriver slips.

Yeah, definitely take the stock HS off of the chip and just use the complete Zalman unit. You'll be happier in the long run. But be sure to protect your CPU with a credit card or something hard and plastic.

What's the best recommendation for getting the thermal pad (which is probably thermal gunk now) off the chip? Also, do Zalman's ship with thermal pads, or am I going to have to buy some paste?
