Problem is - he might not get the car.

When the PT Cruisers were so hot, dealers were calling everyone on their waiting lists soliciting "bids" and selling to the sucker willing to pay the most. Dealers are such slime.

overall though, Nissan's are probably the best dealerships you'll ever deal with. from my past experience with 4 different nissan dealerships, i've had nothing by positive things to say about htem.

heh considering the car sales for around $30k and asking for $50K seems silly to me.

Even if i had that kind money to blow on a car i wouldnt pay $20k MORE for it. now maybe 5-10k but almost double the price? heck no.

Its a great car. i had a datsun 260Z about 12yrs ago. man that was a fun car. This new one is ugly though but the stats on it look great.

i dont think the 350z looks ugly at all. i definetly like the looks of the 300zx better, but this is still nice. I agree though, i'd rather wait a few months and save 20k, than spend that extra cash to have it now.

That guy IS slime. And an idiot. He probably decided he didn't want/couldn't afford the new Z he pre-ordered back in March and now he's just trying to sell his place in line. :|
I want one of those Z's so bad but there is no way I am going to pre-order one. Even with Nissan cracking down on their dealers, I've already heard rumors of dealer abuse, like charliebrown said.

NOTE: I am selling this car for a high price, not to make money, but because that's what it will take for someone to take my baby away from me once I get it.

I LOVE this car, but will sell or order it with different specs if the price is right. Remember, I have had my name on a list for 7 months because I originally (and still) wanted the car for myself. But for the true Z enthusiast, you might want this car NOW. This is who the offer is for - someone who wants this BRAND NEW Z-CAR and is ready to show it off!!

Heck, if you don't show it off, I will.
Bullshlt!!

This guy does suck.

For what it's worth, I have a 350Z on order which will cost me about $32,000 out the door. I *think* I am in the next allotment, scheduled to arrive sometime in October. For personal reasons, I probably won't pick up the car - but that leaves me two options:

1) Return it to the dealer, who may/may not refund my $1000 deposit, and who may/may not sell it at a significant markup.
or
2) Buy the car (and pay sales tax) and then resell the car to someone else who will have to pay sales tax again. So, to buy the car from ME, someone would have to basically pay sales tax twice, plus I could reasonably take a small profit on the side, say $1000-$2000. That would still equate to me selling the car for roughly $34,000.

NOW, the real irony is - there are still dealers out there who will sell a car, on the lot, for MSRP. I am very impressed at this behavior. But the flip side is - there are still rich bastards out there who wouldn't think twice about paying $10k over if they can have the car in their driveway the next day. I met one of the first 350Z owners here in S. Florida, and somebody offered him $5000 over what he paid to take it off his hands... crazy

If I had enough money to make Bill Gates look poor I would not pay over sticker price for any car.

Yep!

My uncle works at a BMW dealershitp, and when they got their first 3 M5's in the first guy who got it, pulled into the parking lot with it, called somebody, and the guy came and bought it right on the lot from the guy with with cash for $10,000 more than he had just paid. Amazing. The dealer had a 150 person waiting list, though, so i guess it is worth it to some people.

It's funny how some people will pay SO much more just to have something new "first."
In a few months you'll be able to go on the lot and pick one up for sticker price.

I agree that its stupid and I wouldn't personally pay more than the sticker for a car just to be among the first to own one, but that is just me. Someone else may think that being 'first' is worth the asking price. I mean what is the difference from paying some exhorbitant sum of money for a stupid antique that really isn't worth but a fraction of its collector value except for the value that others see in having it?

I think its pretty stupid to pay $100 or $100K for a stupid baseball with someone's scribble on it. Hell I can buy a two-pack of baseballs and scribble all over it myself for less than 10 bucks, what's the difference? Nothing to me that justifies paying more than I can buy a baseball for in the stores + $.50 for an ink pen. But, hey, different strokes for different folks, its their money, if they want to blow $100K on a $4 baseball...more power to them.

This is a perfectly legitimate way to turn a few bucks and one that is entirely consistent with every other conceivable means of commerce in the universe. People were fetching $90K for their Vipers and ZR1 Corvettes when they started rolling off the assembly line. Its a market that won't last long as the supply increases.

I see no reason to harbor any objection to the practice except out of simply jealousy or envy.

i wonder how long it will take for the hype around them to settle down and actually become available.. i dont see anybody ever being able to haggle for a good price on of these.
