I never even thought about this when I was reading the books. I didn't think there was anything to imply that this was the case!

Sounds like the attention whore is trying to get more attention. First she rips off Tolkien and C.S. Lewis, then calls them both bigots, then tries to create some post series drama.

The books were fairly complex and entertaining reads. I didn't care about it while reading the books, why should I care about it now?

Why not read how and why she said it and you know. A fan asked if he ever found love and she explained who he loved and what happened. Its not like she came out and said "tonight I will talk about the gay people in my bok..."

So take your trolling bs back to P&n non-profjohn

how is that trolling? i agree with it. it does not add anything to the story because it is not written in the books. anything she says that is not in the books is basically the same as fan fiction to me because if she really wanted it to be the way she is saying she should have put it in the book. at this point in time it adds nothing to the story and she is just sturing up controversy.

If you read the seventh book, you'd notice the connection between Grindelwald and Dumbledore. It may not be straight forward, but it's not hard to put together. It plays a significant role in his decision making abilities at the time. Rowling says he's gay, but I'm not entirely sure she meant it that simply. I think Dumbledore loved one man and one man only.

So was Gandalf the Gray. Tolkien originally named him Gandalf teh Gey in leetspeak but the publishers thought it was a typo.

strait guys are allowed to love other guys, calling him gay implies sexual preferences which is completely unnecessary

I always liked to believe Dumbledore was above primitive urges whether gay or straight, this just fucks things up.

It could've just as easily been platonic love between two men. He didn't have to be gay, and that would've been an impressive bit of subtlety for Rowling.

I guess I have to go with AttentionWhore++.

I agree. It seems like she said this only so people have something to talk about.

Why would he be straight if he had never had any attraction to a woman, and only to a man, one man at that? Why should he be straight instead of gay?

Rowling said gay, but again I'm of the belief that she just used the wrong wording. I think Dumbledore loved Grindelwald, but gay (homosexual) as defined directly implies sexual attraction to someone of the same sex. I don't think that's the case here at all.
