dumb ?: will partition hurt IDE RAID performance?

i have two WD 40 giggers on a Promise Fasttrak TX2 card in an ECS K7S5 mobo. at 80 GB, is it better to partition the drive into smaller drives (to make a swap "disk" for photoshop, or a drive for games) than to keep it all together.

a related question. if i do want to load linux, can i just partition the drive like normal (using linux software, etc) and not lose performance?

prolly a dumb ? but any tips appreciated
 
lol...i was answering the question will you lose performance and no you wont partitioning the drive...adn yes it would be ok to partition a section for linux....promise has drivers for the tx2 for linux RH
