Dumb toilet question

I'm embarrassed to ask, are the mounts/fittings the same for elongated toilets?
I've remounted toilets in the past I'm aware of the sewerage pipe, wax ring(s) and such.
For some unknown reason suddenly my wife finds every round toilet seat uncomfortable and as of today I am done with replacing them. I'm thinking of just changing to an elongated toilet and dealing with the extra 3 inches of space it will occupy.

I haven't done that type of swap, but read through this thread:

On the toilet tangent, 3 tips:

1. Stick in a Korky universal repair kit if you need to replace the guts, or just as preventative maintenance. $25 shipped. Whoever designed this sucker is a genius:

Tons of videos on Youtube:

2. Use a Sani Seal tube instead of wax. Oh my gosh. Soooooo much better. You can easily reposition it without ruining it like a wax ring. I think it was $20 at Home Depot.

3. If you live in a cold area, install a soft toilet seat (btw that is the search term - soft toilet seat). I'm not talking about the padded risers, I mean the fold-down piece itself. It's like a thick styrofoam coated in vinyl or something. It's not as good as say a heated toilet seat with a bidet, but it prevents that initial cold shock when sitting down.

Also, good call on the elongated toilet. I apologize for linking to this NSFW illustration, but there you go.

@Kaido I think the elongated toilet will be too close to the tub but I don't care I am so sick of hearing complaints about the various seats. I'm a broken man I'll put in a new toilet.
