Ok, I finally got enough courage to ask these dumb questions. Please don't laugh at me :(
Anyway here it goes.

How hard is it to attach the processer to the motherboard (really dumb question, I know)
What is this arctic silver stuff, will I need this?

Those are about it. Also this is what I plan on getting, how much do you think it will cost (if i buy it all the the fs/t forum):

Asus A7V133a
antec sx-1030
Any 32Mb video Card
Generic Floppy
1+ghz thunderbird
256 ram
SBlive Sound card
10/100 Nic
56k PCI modem

Thanks for helping me, I know it sounds dumb but i am just getting started at this.

All you do to install the chip is lift the lever on the side of the socket, put the chip in and place the lever down again (make sure it latches).

Arctic silver II is a heat disappation compound that you place on the die of the processor inbetween the hsf and processor. It is one of the best compounds available.

Asus A7V133a 150
antec sx-1030 ?
Any 32Mb video Card 105 for Elsa GF2 MX
Generic Floppy 10
1+ghz thunderbird 170
256 ram 94 PC133 CAS2 256mb
SBlive Sound card 60
10/100 Nic 30
56k PCI modem 30 (why do you want a nic and modem?)

you forgot the hard drive, cdrom, burner, hsf, and anything else you wanted.

It's not unheard of for people to damage the CPU when installing it, so I guess it depends on how comfortable and confident you feel about it. You do have the option of buying the mobo with the CPU installed.

You can get links to read reviews on artic silver here.

Attaching the CPU is easy.

Attaching the heatsink can destroy the CPU if you are not carefull.

I see no one answered you about the artic silver. They explained to you what it is, but not if you need it. If you don't plan on Over clocking, then you do not need it. You just need to get yourself a good heatsink fan. As far as attaching the cpu to the motherboard, and the heatsink fan to the motherboard, all I can say is "be very patient".

firstly, be cautious when buying from the for sale/trade forum. secondly, the cpu is a cinch to install. Just link up the pins properly (with the lever lifted of course) and just drop it in. it should literally drop nicely into the socket. then pull the lever down.

good luck
