Hi, this might seem stupid, but is it possible to power on a motherboard without actually using the power on switch from the case? I know where the motherboard power on pins are and wondered if I could just short circuit both pins with a jumper to power on or then remove the jumper to power off.
I want to test my motherboard (got the cpu, hdd, video card, power supply, etc.) but my case haven´t arrived yet and having seen some motherboard reviews with this kind of setup makes me think that it is possible.
Thanks.

Well, I powered my computer on with a screwdriver when I didn't have a switch. Just touched the 2 pins with it to turn it on and then touch it again when I wanted to turn it off.

You could also go to radio shack and get a momentary switch and wire it up to the 2 pins.
