I'm a athlon user and don't know much about intel set-ups. A friend of mine has a older BX board with a P2/450 and he wants to upgrade it to a faster processor. My question is will a fcpga chip on a slocket work on his BX board because I found a good deal on a Celery 600@900 on a slocket.
 
You're right... it's a dumb question. (JUST KIDDING! 😉)

But micron is right. Find out which board it is, and check to see if it's got a BIOS update to allow it to use Coppermine/Cel2's.
