I keep hearing people talk about the 1.6a and the 1.8a..what is it?

Intel P4 1.6 = 1600MHz
a = .13u northwood core (s478) with 512K L2 cache

These are the P4 1.6Ghz and 1.8Ghz Northwoods (the "a" designates the new chip the Northwood). It's the 478pin P4.
