Well I haven't changed graphics cards in a while and I forgot what I did last time.

I'm using Win7 64 bit and going from a HD 5770 to HD 6950.

Current drivers are 10.5

I have an AMD chipset motherboard.

I have seen in various places on the net that selecting "Express uninstall" in Catalyst Install Manager will also uninstall my AMD chipset drivers, USB drivers etc.

Sounds crazy, but - True or false?

Note: If this is the wrong forum for this question then move it as needed.

True, Express Uninstall prompts you "Are you sure you want to remove all AMD related programs?"

Use custom if you only want to remove the display driver. I always forget this on my GF's PC back when she had an nVidia chipset and I'd curse myself when on reboot I had no functioning NIC drivers haha.

Just pull the old card out, stick in the new card and reinstall drivers. Have never had to uninstall AMD/ATi drivers while changing cards out or installing new drivers. Zero problems over many, many generations of ATi/AMD cards since XP.
