Dumb question but I've never had broadband before :)

Finally getting broadband after wanting it for 8 years. Also going wireless 🙂

Can a wireless router allow computers to no only share the internet but have access to each other's resources via a network; like one set up with a hub or switch?

Thanks JackMDS for the links. According to AnandTech - FAQ. What do I need for wireless Networking?:

a Wireless Cable/DSL Router, which is a Combo unit that includes Router to share the Internet, Switch for Wired Network and A/P for Wireless clients (plus more goodies).

According to homenethelp.com, an Access Point:
In its simplist form, a wireless access point is a bridge between wired Ethernet and wireless Ethernet (802.11b). An access point is not needed for two wireless computers to talk to each other, but it is vital for free communication between wired and wireless networks.

So my understanding is that a wireless router can be used as an access point, which acts like a switch/hub for the home network. Is that correct?

Access Point is to add Wireless to already exsisting Wired Network.

Since you are starting you can get a Wireless Cable/DSL Router, and save.
