loaded ubuntu 9.04 on a spare dell optiplex 745 from work.

didn't have time to put a usb wireless nic until i can bring it from home.

does it do plug and play? or should i preload the driver?

d-link gwl g132 or something...
 
Some are PnP, some require using ndiswrapper, and some just plain don't work. Your best bet is to try, and see what happens.

Using ndiswrapper with the gui is probably the easiest way. You'll need to download these files(including ndisgtk if you want the gui) from a wire through Synaptic, or from a different machine. In any case, you'll have to get them on your Ubuntu box.
 
woah, thanks for the link, you made it too easy. i should have a couple hours to kill at work while waiting for the project paper work to go thru.
