Dumb question about graphics card drivers.

I have a Gigabyte geforce gtx 1080 ti card and have been keeping an eye on Gigabytes website for driver updates for the last year, none have dropped. Today someone told me I should be downloading drivers from Nvidia not Gigabyte, is this true?
 
Do you have the GeForce Control Panel & Experience next to your clock ? The GF Experience should notify you when new drivers are ready and d/l it right away
 
No I've just seen that on the install options for the Nvidia driver so I'll probably install for the future.
