dumb question about dvd data burning

Senior member

it takes about 30+ minutes to burn about 4.7gb of data onto a dvd-r disk at 16x speed

but it only takes 5 minutes to burn a dvd movie (4.7 gb) of same size at 16x

shouldn't they be the same time to burn?

Sounds like you're having problems with getting the data off the HDD to the buffer. The write speed is the same.

something's wrong. i can burn a full Dual Layer disc in 30 minutes and thats at 4x.

speaking of which, i hate how DVD media doesn't always burn at rated speeds.

my dvd burner is rated at 16x for dual layer burning. i bought 16x dual layer media, but it only lets me select 4x. this is verbatim media

its done that with regular dvds too.
