Having a shizzload with my pc, it ont even turn on anymore.
It will power up for a second then immediately turn off.
I mean literally 1 second!
Tried the pc outside a case as well and i get the same results.
Well i took a look at my psu and noticed that out of the 24 pins on the power connector, one of them is missing.
Is this common in psus to have 1 pin missing, or do i have a faulty psu.
IF i do have a faulty psu, why was it working the whole time with the missing pin?
thanks in advance guys

Wasnt a PSU issue, i cant believe i wasted all my money on a seasonic 600, 200$$ at microcenter, thanks yall

It's not faulty...that's the way its supposed to be. Sounds like the Power supply is dead

dead psu?
I mean it worked and thats how i installed windows on the hdd, now it just wont turn on at all.
Maybe i fecked up the psu somehow, well its on its last leg anyways.
Psus generally last how long, 2-4 years?

Good ones should last the lifetime of the computer

So the pc automatically turning off is a good sign of a dead psu right?
Every component is new 6400/ds3/2 gigs gskill 800, x1900xtx but the psu is an older model rosewill.
psu in question
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817182017
had the psu for almost 2 years now as well and its been through about 13 overclocked builds

I need to buy a psu tomorrow and the closest place is microcenter.
It kills me that im about to pay 140 for ultra or xfinity psu
IS there any reason to stay away from Ultra?
too many mixed reviews on them

What pin is missing? (pics possible) And a friend of mine had this same problem recently, and it ended up that his mobo & CPU were incompatible... Did you just change any hardware or timings?

This is a brand new built rig.
Its the pin thats missing in every psu pic i seen at newegg, so the pin thing i dont think is a problem.
I thought it was getting shorted out as well, so i put it on top of my wooden table and that seemed to do the trick, GOt to install windows and everything.
Put the mb back in the case and it wo uldnt power on.
Took it back out the case to try again and now it just wont power on at all

Complete system specs are as follows

Antec superlanboy
Gigsbayte DS-3
Rosewill psu i linked earlier
Wd 3200KS
Nec 3540
Zalman 9500, even tried intel stock cooler
2x1 gig Gskill ddr2 800
Ati x1900xtx, i tried my x800xl aiw as well.

Im really at a lost, this is my 4th pc in a row that im having problems with building.
I really have my heart set on this psu, but theres no way it would just croke after being just fine to install windows.
Could this also be a mb problem?

Why did you get a rosewill in the first place? If you had asked AT for their opinion for your psu in the first place, they would have told you to get an enhance 5140gh and you would not have this problem.

could it possibly be the power switch on the case? how'd you power it on when you had it on the table...short out the pins that you hook the power on/off leads to on the motherboard?

I just plugged the 2 paperclip ends to the psu and the psu powers up.
I shorted the pwr switch pins with a screw driver while it was on my desktop.
I tried doing the same thing when it was plugged into the case
Could it be my mb thats bad then?
Since the psu seems to be working?

It sounds like a PSU problem to me. If you plan on doing crossfire with that card take a look at one of these:

http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?p=PS-EN5...efba891bfc72cedcbf8d7fc9f93da21568969d
Enhance ENP 500W w/ SLi

Silverstone Zeus 520W w/ SLi

Zippy HP2 500W w/ SLi

If not, one of these should work well:

Seasonic S12 430W w/ PCI-E

I'd get the zippy DBtelos recommended. That's the gaming power series. One of the best psus ever made IMO. Pretty hot price too... will run anything you throw at it other than quad sli and dual x1900xtx.

Hey fvck you too!

It's not our computer and its not our responsibility to figure out what's wrong. All we can do is guess based on what you tell us here. It's not our fault you didn't do your research with your RAM.

Also let me point out that you were the one that decided to waste $200. Nobody here suggested anything over $80ish.

hey, i didnt mean it like that bro.
seems like u have some issues in your life that you need to work out yourself mang.
Just wanted to update this, because alot of people have problems with the ds3 and if they do a search, this might be the answer for them.
Instead of assuming it was a psu issue

Why don't you change the title of the thread to something less inflamatory then, shouting "YOU GUYS WERE ALL WRONG" makes you sound like an unappreciative pr!ck.

I'll say it for you then, hahaha you wasted your cash. Have fun with that xtra 250w! BTW, even if purduery does have issues he needs to work out, who are you to say that he needs to? If your intent really was to inform us, change that beligerant summary to: Updated solution to MoBo problem.

Well i might have came off wrong, but honestly he told me fvck you too.
No need to take it to there if you know what im saying.
The Seasonic can be returned by the way ;) so thats not a problem
I love how people bash rosewill psus, antecs and other brands when in all honesty they've never even used one.
I can read psu reviews all day and feel like i know everything, but i wont comment on something that i never used.
