Sorry for this dumb question. I used the "pencil trick" to close the L1 bridges on my Althon 1G. I was running at 7.5 x 133 FSB for maybe two weeks, and then one night I started up my computer and it wouldn't boot. I could not boot at 7.5 x 133 FSB, and had to clear the CMOS and reset to 10 x 100. These are the exact symptoms that showed before I used the pencil trick.
My question is --- is it possible for the pencil trick to "wear off"? I can't think of anything, other than heat, that would cause it to do so, but in reading this and other forums, I haven't heard of this before.
Just asking this out of curiosity, more than anything.
TIA
