"hey, I lost my hat."
"where did you lose it?"

Or the the day, I say a guy who had a coat hanger down the window of his ca, trying to get the lock. I go up to him and ask:
"so, you locked your keys in the car?"


Or earlier I was out walking around my neighboorhood and I see this guy with a dog leash in his hand and he is calling out his dogs name. I ask him
"so, your dog get away?"

the 'where did you lose it>' is less ludicrous than the others. Answers include: On campus, At work, I don't know. The former two are useful in tracking the item down.
 
ok ... soo most of these are just conversation starters, something to break the ice. and just becuase they have a coat hanger, he coul dbe trying to steal the car hehe
