Dula boot question not covered by the FAQ (search already done)

I want to run w2k advanced server and linux (either RH or Mandrake and possibly both, in a triple boot)

I notice the faq talks about using the windows bootloader.

I find myself wondering why I wouldn't use a linux bootloader or possibly a 3rd party bootloader that would support multiple OSes, such as Masterbooter.

Now, I've been around a while and done lots of installs on different OSes but as it happens I've never done a dual boot.

I'd like it of some of you folks could give me the benefit of your experience, both positve and negative.

I'd like to have a clearcut idea of what option I'm going to go with and WHY before I get going.

I see no reason to run both mandrak AND red hat. They are very similar. If you do dual boot, however, I don't see any problems with lilo (linux loader). I personally like the FreeBSD boot loader better, but there is nothing wrong with lilo. If you install win2k first, lilo should pick up on the fact that you have an nt based os, and give you the option to boot to it. If you install mandrake/redhat first then you will have to edit lilo.conf forget where it is(use #find / -name lilo.conf -depth -print) and then re-run lilo(again, #find / -name lilo -depth -print). Look around here for some more ideas.

and why Advanced Server? Regular server is the same as Advanced minus support for > 4 Gigs RAM, > 4 Processors, and clustering, and minus the additional $3K cost.

I already have advanced server.

Anyway, I know that I can use the w2k bootloader, or one of the linux ones, or a 3rd party loader.

I just can't figure out what's best and why it's best.

That's what I'm hoping someone can clear up for me.
