Duke Nukem Forever

DId a search and didn't find a thread on this ...

From shacknews:
ARTICLE

Quote of interest:

Meanwhile, of course, the incident broke out over at the 3D Realms official forums, spawning what is at time of writing a 17-page thread. The scene only became more frenzied when Broussard posted to clarify the whole thing and affirm the shot's authenticity, as well as imply that there might be more media coming in the relatively near future:
I guess I'll reconfirm what I said last night. That's an in game, real-time shot of Duke standing in a random hallway. It was really done as a small teaser for a job ad on Gamasutra.com. Nothing more.

I'm glad some of you enjoyed it, and we'll show more later as we start to wake from our slumber and decide how best to show the game off.

Yeah, I saw this story a few days ago... but 10 years work on the game and I can't believe Duke looks like clay... hopefully, it will be fun to play.

maybe its an ingame shot of a duke action figure

who knows... maybe it would turn out to be a great game despite the dated look of the visuals. I dont know about you all but I remember when Duke 3D came out and compared to quake (in which the monsters and such are actual 3d models instead of walking bitmaps...) it had a little bit richer scenerios and interactivity than Quake.

I think this might be the same in a sense... I could be wrong.

well you gotta figure none of their original development is reusable for the game being that its so obsolete. so its much less in reality i guess

I don't care how good that game ends up being, it will never live up to the hype

I know the game has been delayed and has been made fun of because of the long development, I've seen a couple of adds about the game in the late 90s, but I have never seen it hyped up to be the greatest game of our time.

You don't know much about the gaming genre and the hype that follows DNF then.

FPS games are my favorite, the only reason I upgrade my PC is to play these games. I've seen games like Daikaitana, Doom III, HL2 that were hyped so much. Some of them lived up to my expectation, some didn't. I remember I ordered an ATi videocard after I saw an impressive video of an insect on top of a shiny roof and because Gabe Newell stated that ATi videocards were best for running HL2. To my amazement, after I dropped $400, HL2 was delayed for several months . Crysis is another game that is being hyped for the last year or so where you see trailers after trailers, in-game shots after shots posted all over the internet communities for people to drool over. I'm wondering now should I adopt Vista and buy that shiny Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTX do play these fancy DX10 games.

I have absolutely no idea what you are asking here. It is always a bad idea to buy into the hype, never buy hardware before you need it. My earlier post was simply as to why DNF is being hyped, considering it is one of the biggest vaporware titles of the time... now that Prey's been released and Duke Nukem 3D is still considered one of the best FPS games.
