Duke Nukem Forever

In their 2005 issue of PC Gamer, they saw a demo of 20 minutes of playing time for DNF. It almost finished but needs refinement.

2006 - YEAR OF DNF or WHEN ITS DONE.

Unless they changed the game engine completely, it's gonna be a piece of crap.

aparently they've changed the game engine 3 or 4 times... last report they're on the D3 engine

Doom 3 engine with their own added rendering engine.

Hmm, then there is some chane it can be salvaged.

It will suck. A product that's taken this long is clearly a mess. Those in charge have no fvcking clue what they're doing and the game will STINK.
Quake 1
Quake2
Unreal
Quake 3
are the changes in Engines so far, I believe.
How pathetic.

3D Realms has also done other projects in the meantime, it's not like they've been wasting away on just DNF for the past decade.

What have they done that's good?

Max Payne 1 & 2, other Duke Nukem games, Prey... Mostly developed by other studios, but they are all joint ops with 3D Realms.

Where did you get this crap from?

They went from Quake2 to Unreal. Since then they've been revamping the Unreal engine to suit their needs. Supposedly it's almost a new renderer.

Prey is being developed on the Doom3 engine, though. If anybody has information about an engine switch since Unreal, feel free to provide some links.

Yup, still using the Unreal Engine for D4E. Prey is what's using the Doom3 engine.

So to cap what 3DRealms have done during D4E's developement: Max Payne(they sold the License of Max Payne for $35million, hence Max Payne 2 wasn't their work), the side scrolling Duke Nukem game(don't recall name), and they are currently working on Prey and D4E simultaneously. They've been busy and their track record for great games is solid. D4E will be a sensation, you'll all see. 😉
