Yeah, like we haven't heard stuff like that dozens of times before. I won't believe the PC was anything but a careless afterthought until I play it, because developers seem to love nothing more than to lie about the effort they put into the PC version of their games.

You can believe anything you want, but there is plenty of information around that coincides with my statements.

Yeah, which almost all comes directly from them, which is exactly why I don't believe a single word of it.

If that's all you know of them, then that explains your response.

Here you go...

That proves what? They haven't developed anything in ages, and the last PC game they published was in 2006. All of this, while you have countless seemingly dedicated PC studios all releasing completely useless console ports. So even if 3DR had been releasing amazing PC games for the last decade, it wouldn't mean anything in the current gaming climate.

DNF doesn't have DX11 because it's based on the Unreal Engine, which until very recently did not support DirectX 11.

If you look at the "developed" NEW games which were released -the last one was in 1997 - Shadow Warrior.

In order to finish Prey - they had to outsource it to another developer. Rather than develop new games, they just ported the old games onto different platforms.

After 1997 - 3drealms was mainly a publishing business.

Awesome to see the system recommended requirements aren't a 10-core, 20-threaded Xeon E7 with dual ATI / nVidia high end video cards. :)

Like all modern games the requirements are a lie. About 30-50% better machine than recommended might run it maxed.

Gearbox software has posted the system requirements for duke nukem forever. gearboxity.com is the official fan site for gearbox software.

http://www.gearboxity.com/content/view/637/33/

Since DNF and Borderlands were both developed by Gearbox, lets compare their requirements.

Borderlands:

2.4 GHz Pentium 4 Processor
1GB system RAM
NVIDIA Geforce 8600 GS
ATI Radeon HD3000 Series
8 GB of hard disk space

Duke Nukem Forever:

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.4 Ghz / AMD Athlon 64 X2 @ 2.6 Ghz
Memory: 2 Gb
Hard Drive: 10 Gb free
Video Memory: 512 MB
Video Card: nVidia GeForce 8800 GTS / ATI Radeon HD 3850

Borderlands is a great looking game, so maybe DNF will be look just as good as Borderlands, hopefully better.

One of the big differences that I see between Borderlands and DNF, it looks like DNF is designed for at least a dual core CPU, while Borderlands was designed for an older pentium 4.

I am wondering why Dx11 is not listed though. Dx11 might still be a little new, but I wonder why a major game like DNF is not going to utilize the latest technology?

You're comparing the minimum requirements for Borderlands against the recommend requirements for DNF. So, obviously DNF will look more power hungry.

If you compare the minimum against minimum, you notice that DNF requires a dual core CPU whereas Borderlands does not, but it requires a 7600 whereas Borderlands requires an 8600GTS. Interesting.

That was the reason DNF has been delayed for so damn long. They kept scrapping the game to implement the "latest technology." I'm glad they gave up on that and are just releasing the damn game already.

Yea, I remember when they went from the quake engine, to the quake II engine to the unreal engine. Every time the developers changed engines, the game was set back a couple of years.

I am glad gearbox took over development. Maybe now DNF will see the light of day.
