Just got my "First Access Club" email from Gearbox:

Where were you the first time you played Duke Nukem Forever?
You'll have your answer on June 3 when the Duke Nukem Forever demo is released exclusively through the First Access Club.
Only First Access Club members like yourself will get to sample the most legendary shooter of all time before the long-awaited game is released on June 10 (International) and June 14 (North America).
Get ready. It's almost here.

God damn I'm excited for this game. I was in the 10th grade when the game came out and I played the hell out of it.

Sucks we have to wait 4 more days for a NA release.

I got the email too earlier. I was expecting to get the demo a bit sooner then that though. I'm looking forward to it though, it better be single player demo and not some gay multi only one.

I'm hoping it is good, I have around $45 in D2D credit I can use on this if so.

If this is true it is very bad news. I am now convinced the world will end on Saturday

Got mine too. I was excited months ago but seeing more and more gameplay videos of it has gotten me less and less excited.

My excitement for this game has bottomed out. Someone wake me up if it scores >90% on Metacritic, otherwise fuck it. Too many other good games out there.

How old are you?

I probably spent more time playing Duke3d than any other game.. Even though I rarely play games anymore I'm still extremely excited about DNF..

Actually why even post your crappy comment?

He just wants to shit in our Cheerios I guess...

I'm with you as far as time spent playing. When DN3D came out back in the 90's I spent tons of time playing 1v1 DM with friends over modems!! LOL. Modems?!? Damn, that was a long time ago.

Bah, misleading title. Demos are usually public affairs and this one is very much not

LOL. It is not like it is wrapped in secrecy. It is public. You just have to have either pre-ordered it or purchase Borderlands GOTY.

After hearing that they adopted a lot of "modern" (read lazy) features (regening health/etc) I'm not as interested. Going to need to cure cancer on release for me to be interested.

I guess "public" wasn't the word I was looking for, I meant "open". Usually demos are downloadable by anybody with a net connection, but at least for now that's not the case... and that makes me a sad panda :(

Pretty much this.

I was hyped up about DNF back in 1998 and 1999. 3DRealms epic fail on the development pretty much ruined DNF. This game should have been released 10 years ago in 2001, not in 2011.

~~ EDIT ~~

I am really surprised that there is not a "Boycott DNF" steam group yet.

Why would there be a boycott group? There was never a release date announced for the game, everyone knows the history of the development cycle it went through and that they screwed up so bad another developer is coming in and finishing the game and getting it ready for release. I could understand if it was 3D Realms putting the game out and people wanted to protest cause of the time they took, but Gearbox has taken the reigns now, now need for them to take the hate that is towards another group.

I think peoole like Texashiker here don't realize the people making DNF now are NOT those that jerked us around for 10 years. Otherwise he wouldn't say such stupid things.

A demo is supposed to let you... demo... the game. How is it a demo if you have already purchased it?

It's like saying, "if you make a down payment on a car, we'll let you test drive it".

To get the demo (from the First Access Club) you only had to have bought Boarderlands GOTY edition to get the demo. Also the demo is going to come out for everyone else afterwards, but as the name implies First Access Club people will get it ahead of everyone else. You don't need to purchase DNF to get the demo.
