I don't give a shit if you're Bill Gates and could afford to father 1000 children. It's about social responsibility and not bringing an obscene amount of children into this world. We're already talking about population issues and how limited supplies (food, water, energy) are impacting everyone else, and yet we're supposed to somehow accept that this stupid family has 20 fucking kids?

It's pretty fucking selfish as a parent when also start delegating parenting duties to the older siblings because the dad won't get his balls snipped or the mom won't keep her snatch shut.

That's actually pretty common even in small families when the age gap between kids is more then a few years.
It also gives their kids practical parenting skills which most seem to lack.

the problem with the world IMHO is that the wrong people are having kids. While I personally think these people are a bit different, they seem like good people. There are plenty worse people having kids in this world.

They haven't exactly done it all on their own like people like to think. The giant house they live in was completed by Discovery who found people to donate their time. The Duggars started the house but couldn't finish it, so Discovery footed the bill and found people to work on the house for free. The house was furnished, decorated and stocked by Discovery as well. They may have been debt free, and doing OK before Discovery came along, but that was 7 years and 6 kids ago (they did their first Discovery special in 2004). Discovery probably pays them at least $50,000 an episode I'd guess, if not more.

I don't get the Duggar hate. Is it because they're Christian? They have a large family of what appear to be healthy, happy, well rounded kids. Why does it matter how many they have?

Their philosophy of "we don't believe in personal choice when it relates to intercourse, we think God handles everything there" seems to stem from the whole "be fruitful and multiply" bit.
Be fruitful and multiply. So what is it going to be then, keep reproducing as often as possible, until the population density of the entire planet is enough to put India to shame? Keep going until there's only enough food to keep us all on the threshold of starvation? Keep going until it's standing room only?

We're a great example of what happens when a species somehow finds itself in a position of being devoid of enough natural predators to limit the population - it's the same thing that often happens when we introduce a species into a non-native environment: It has no natural predators, so it keeps breeding out of control. I got some free gypsy moths and zebra mussels here, if anyone wants them.
So then we go a step further, and rationalize our out-of-control breeding, and even glorify it.
