Well I have 3 reasons why I'm not going to do that

1. I have have negative feelings towards the platypus avatar, nothing personal

2. I feel that to truly explore and understand the crab avatar, I need to focus my whole series on the crab

3. I already started my faux stained glass project which already includes a crab. One of my fellow students in the class, Chrissy, said she really liked the second one that I did, so I think I'll stick to the crab theme.

Well I was trying to come up with a simple symbol to use for my tag board print, and I thought of doing a crab. I saw there were orange pieces of paper and it made me think of dug, so I decided to use it as a theme. The girls at my table thought it was kind of strange and funny that I was making a print based on a guy in Australia that I'd never actually met but called my "friend", so I decided to make it a theme. The added benefit is that I don't have to come up for any more ideas for the rest of the projects, just figure out how to get an orange crab somewhere in the mix.

- Triangle
- Square
- Circle
- Rectangle
- A shape we made ourselves

Well I tried to make the case that I was making "a series"
(A series was one of the requirements for making an AP art portfolio, so it wasn't my first... although it was my first Crab-related series. My other series was based on biotechnology)

From there it basically turned into a discussion on how we as teachers could deal with students who get very focused on a single element in their artwork.
