I am looking at getting 1 ASUS VG248QE Black 24" 144Hz 1ms (GTG) as my main gaming monitor. I plan on running 120Hz.

I will have a 2nd monitor, does it need to be the same Hz? I was thinking of going with a cheaper 1920x1080 60Hz.

The 2nd monitor is basically for during work and other stuff.
 
Technically no, there is no need to have matching monitors.

However, it will eat at you over time. You should just bite the bullet and get twins of the same model. Even then they should still be calibrated.
