Duel Hard Drive Question

If I put a 2nd HDD into my computer could I use it to save and transfer files between the 2 (mostly music) and be accessible from windows (like an external HDD is). And HDD's have to be the same to work in raid, right?

Their IDE if you need to know

dont go raid unless raid 1, other than that yes you could access the other from within windows, it would show up just as another hdd
