huh? How is this in any way his fault? If you are just suggesting he served them too much alcohol... no, I don't think he did. It's not at all unreasonable for 4 people to rack up a bar tab like that, I've certainly done much more damage than that with 3 others at a bar when we didn't have to drive anywhere.

the manager was fine with it. they didn't drive to the store so we knew they weren't going to drive away from our store drunk.

besides, it wasn't really my table. like I said in my OP, my friend had it originally and just switched it over to me so he could leave (you can't have any open tables when you clock out). I wrang in a shot or two more of crown royal each before they just walked out after they watched the WVU - Maryland game: they were from Beckley, WV.

4 girls aged around 21, had 18 shots PLUS lots of alcohol? How big were these girls? How long were they there drinking? They might just be in the bathroom all passed out

lol, no we check the bathrooms at the end of the night :p

I actually kept the check so I can show Darryl (dude who originally had the table) what they ended up paying ($0 :p).

They got:
1 x 22oz budweiser draft
17 x 2oz. shots of crown royal (shot = 1.5oz)
1 x white russian
1 x 2oz shot of cuervo gold
5 x Margaritas
2 x Sangrias

Lets just say they were all really drunk

I didn't think Applebee's wanted people to get this drunk? The last one I went to had a 2 drink maximum.

I dunno. I personally think if you're serving 4 21 year olds that much alcohol then you do run the risk of them 'forgetting'. Personally, if you want to be a bar for the night, like Applebee's was to these people on this given night, then you should have taken someone's credit card beforehand.

Good point, probably should have ran a tab with one of their cards beforehand.

Reminds me of my youth when we'd all go to Denny's at the wee hours on the morning, my friend was so shyte faced drunk he decided he didn't want to pay for his meal and ran out the door but since none of us were done eating and were all paying for our own meals, he had to wait outside since he had no ride, well they called the police and his dumb drunk ass was just sitting there when they came, they cuffed him and took him in

Dumb things I've seen done or done in my youth is just sad sometimes :p

So who footed the bill, since it wasn't your fault?

Who usually does in situations like this?

Why would the waitress have to pay the bill if someone left?

I've never worked in a restraunt, but if a young group like that was ordering that much alcohol, I think you'd ask for a credit card or something to ensure payment in advance. I'm not saying all young people are con artists, but someone just lost $250 for not making sure these people had an ability to pay.

I would have secured payment before the crown was poured... 17 shots isn't cheap.

The waiter should be holding on to someones CC when they left. So that it would have been charged.
