Nasty. Though, why the hell is the reservoir that easy to access? That needs to be sealed up and high security. What stops someone from throwing cyanide or ricin in there? Not to mention animals and insects having full access to it. Some insects even lay eggs in water which turn into larva.

They really need to revisit how they do things. Most places have all the filtration inside a large building and the fresh water is pumped into a water tower that is sealed.

It's open to the air. Birds take dumps in it, leaves rot in it, animals can fall in and die and they are concerned about 2 cups of piss?

Jeebus, I'd be concerned about drinking that water but mostly because of the idiots running it.

Yeah while pee and poop is probably the most possible disgusting thing that can end up in drinking water, I'd be concerned about everything else too. If this is actually common remind me to boil and distill my water if I go in the states.

I would expect a setup like this in a place like India, but not North America.

I haven't checked all the reservoirs, but in Toronto they are either underground or the water is in the water tower. Only open air ones are the sewage treatment plants.

Who stores treated water out in the open anyway? bizarre.

Seems odd murrica hasn't put a lid on it to prevent terrists from poisoning the well.

Yeah seems nuts to make it that easily accessible, simply from a homeland security aspect.

Someone who knows what they're doing could easily put some kind of bio contaminate in there that makes everybody sick.

ITT people find out how the water magically comes out of their tap three decades after being born.

I'd imagine that you'd need a ridiculous amount of toxin to poison an entire reservoir.

pee in the reservoir is not a big deal.

some reservoirs allows motor boats in them that can contaminate the water supply with fuel and oil. that should be a bigger concern.

They should have just come out and said they were re-routing all of that water to the pipes that go to toilets and not the ones that go to drinking water....and then everybody would have been happy and at ease.;)

Reservoir built in 1911. As old as the Republic of China and older than the People's Republic of China...

Officials had planned to drain the water from Reservoir 5 into the sewer system after authorities said Dallas Swonger, 19, was caught on camera two weeks ago appearing to urinate into it. Test results from the day after the incident found the water was safe to drink.

No kidding. Big surprise.
