Wow.. my first paycheck I paid 16%, and I was like oh well, but this last paycheck I missed out on 26%!!! Why does it change like that? And why me!!! I'm just 18....... =(

Edit: Folks, I make just $500 a week. I can't believe that warrants me being in the 25% tax bracket! Can't they like, break you in slowly or something? I didn't get a summer job to lose a quarter of it to the government =(

Hey at least you can now complain when your money goes towards stupid crap. I know I get really upset when I see that my hard earned money is being used on ridiculous things.

Highest tax bracket is 35 percent, isn't it?

I think you'd find that each dollar you make is realistically taxed near 70 percent, by the time you figure up all the other taxes you pay besides income.

Edit: Missed the 'No P&N', my apologies.

US taxes are extremely low compared to the Netherlands.

The lower the taxes, the less the government can spend on infrastructure, education, healthcare, etc.

I doubt that's the case if his combined tax rate is only 25%.

Yep, my parents say about 1/3 of their paychecks go to taxes. Haven't worked yet, so I can't say.

Professional drug dealers get 150-250k a year, without paying taxes. And it comes in cash too.

approximately 25% here, and going to get a lot worse (top tax rate in New Zealand is 39%).
