Wow.. my first paycheck I paid 16%, and I was like oh well, but this last paycheck I missed out on 26%!!! Why does it change like that? And why me!!! I'm just 18....... =(

Edit: Folks, I make just $500 a week. I can't believe that warrants me being in the 25% tax bracket! Can't they like, break you in slowly or something? I didn't get a summer job to lose a quarter of it to the government =(

I  this thread.

enwar, don't start looking at the Medicare and Social Security projections, you might get suicidal. It only gets worse from here buddy!

Hey at least you can now complain when your money goes towards stupid crap. I know I get really upset when I see that my hard earned money is being used on ridiculous things.

Just wait until they take nearly 50%.
Highest tax bracket is 35 percent, isn't it?

I think you'd find that each dollar you make is realistically taxed near 70 percent, by the time you figure up all the other taxes you pay besides income.

the next sound you hear will be reality crashing down on you...

welcome to the real world ..enjoy your stay ..you can look forward to stupid clueless bosses, crazy co-workers, long hours, low pay and little appreciation of your skills and efforts....

please check your childhood at the door....come again 😛

if i know how much my dad makes net, is there a way to figure out the gross salary (he doesn't pay taxes, but i'm curious what his salary would equate to on a normal scale)

looks like the government popped another cherry

LOL.

Remember, hundreds of people on welfare depend on you...

Edit: Missed the 'No P&N', my apologies.

US taxes are extremely low compared to the Netherlands.

The lower the taxes, the less the government can spend on infrastructure, education, healthcare, etc.
