ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) - The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, who stunned the defending Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings in the Western Conference quarterfinals, snared one of that team's best players on Saturday by signing center Sergei Fedorov.

Fedorov spent his entire career with the Red Wings and has 400 goals and 554 assists in 908 games. This past season, he had 36 goals and a team-leading 47 assists in 80 games. Fedorov also led the Red Wings with three points in the playoffs, when they were swept by the Mighty Ducks.

The 33-year-old Fedorov won three Stanley Cups with Detroit and was the leading scorer in the NHL in 1993-94, when he had 56 goals and 64 assists. A two-time Selke Trophy winner, Fedorov has been used as a defenseman at times by Detroit.

Anaheim had won only one playoff series in franchise history before this season, when he it knocked off the top two seeds in the West before losing in seven games in the Stanley Cup Finals to the New Jersey Devils. Earlier this month, star left wing Paul Kariya, who had spent his entire career with Anaheim, signed with Colorado.

WHAAAAAAAAAAT!?!?! Noooooooooooo, dem bitches.....now what're we gonna do. Well, sign someone else, obviously, but who?

<---Hopes that Fedorov has a horrible season and Anaheim regrets signing him.

I'm a big Fedorov fan... But the Ducks won't be any better with him, nor will the Wings be any worse off without him. The Ducks probably would've been better off signing two $4mil players.

Not to mention the fact that he turned down a 5yr/$50mil, 4yr/$40mil, and 4yr/$32mil offers from the Red Wings. Mike Ilitch (the Red Wings owner) took him out to dinner personally, and gave him the 5/50 offer. So, he actually lost $10 million dollars (or an extra year), and ended up on a team that doesn't have the tradition or likelyhood of winning the cup again. (Yes, Duck fan... Last year was a one-hit wonder. Just like the 'Canes, 'Caps, Sabres, and Panthers of years gone by.)

I think maybe he will get "Lazy Russian" syndrome. He will play pretty good for the first year then he will suck 😉 😀

Cheers,
Aquaman
