Falcons and Broncos struck a big deal....this could be huge for Atlanta. Finally a real receiver for Vick.

How ironic or is it moronic or just plain old rich baby syndrom. Lelie won't come to came because he is not the Broncos #1 receiver, then gets traded to be the #3 for the Falcons..

ATLANTA -- Filling their need for a No. 3 wide receiver, the Atlanta Falcons on Tuesday night acquired disgruntled Denver Broncos veteran Ashley Lelie in a three-team trade, ESPN.com has learned.

Clayton's take
The three-team trade that sent Ashley Lelie to Atlanta, T.J. Duckett to Washington, and two draft choices to Denver late Tuesday had been one of the most difficult to put together in the past couple of years. When all was said and done, the deal made all involved happy.

The Falcons sent former first-round tailback T.J. Duckett to Washington. At worst, the Broncos will receive two draft choices from Washington -- third- and fourth-round picks -- and those picks could escalate based on a complicated formula.

The trade is expected to be announced Wednesday.

Leslie has a much better shot of being the #1 guy in Atlanta with Jenkins and White then he does in Denver with Rod Smith and Javon Walker

Price was a #2 receiver that had one good year, so everyone thought he was the next Jerry Rice. He wasn't even Dallas' #4 receiver after he got cut from the Bills.

i agree... price would have been great playing opposite moulds (the bills qb situation is a whole different bloody mess tho) for a few years. i just dont see lelie being a #1 guy.

Duckett was made expendable as the Falcons had fallen in love with draft pick Jerious Norwood. Duckett gives the Redskins insurance in case Clinton Portis' shoulder injury is serious.

Lelie replenishes the Falcons' receiving corps, which was thinned by a knee injury to Brian Finneran went down in the first week of camp.

Norwood is the real deal. Watched him in college for 3 years. Norwood will be a sleeper pick in fantasy football.

So now the Falcons go into the season with two "Oh, Christ, we are screwed" scenarios. 1. Warrick Dunn gets hurt and your backup is Jerrious Norwood. That could get interesting. And 2. You are going to have your punter kick field goals for you, too.

I dont understand them, they spent so much money this winter upgrading to ,what looks like, a monster defense and they very possibly could be done in by one or two iffy moves.

Peace

They're thin at a lot of positions because they screwed themselves against the cap with huge deals to Dunn, Vick, Kearney, and Brooking. They are great players but with the possible exception of Vick, who probably generates as much revenue as he was paid, they were overpaid because they fit the image Arthur Blank is trying to build for the team.

However, McKay is going into the season with a make or break attitude. Duckett has been solid but doesn't fit the zone blocking offense very well, and Mora was furious after the GB game with the WR and safety positions. I think this is a good deal for all involved. Ironically, many Falcons fans were furious with the Duckett pick in the wake of signing Dunn to a $25M contract, and wished they had grabbed Lelie instead to stretch the field for Vick.
