Anyone interested in the Truth, Common Sense, and the Scientific Method can sort all this out easily, and it only has one explanation.
Litigators or prosecutors often cherry-pick their facts to support a theory of a case or crime, and some percentage of the time pursue a direction that departs from either Justice or the Truth. This is a parallel phenomenon to thinking that "Alternative Facts" are a response to an argument based on the facts that are available.
The greater number of facts, the more likely you will arrive at the Truth, the more likely you will achieve Justice. This also requires that any logical inferences derived from those facts are sound, and that there are no spurious inferences or logic which either tries to incorporate facts which might later prove irrelevant.
An investigator would likely begin with either the indication that "a crime has been committed" or that a crime MAY have been committed provided that additional facts will inferentially prove a greater probability of such or meet the test of an hypothesis that a crime occurred -- shown by the additional facts. Further exploration through a tree of hypotheses and facts will always lead to likelihood of the Truth, provided that all relevant facts are admitted.
So with the Hillary investigation you had a continuous plumbing for more facts but none turned up. They dragged out the investigation for its propaganda value, resulting in the embarrassment that there was no substance or anything that would prove a crime occurred.
We've seen enough data points, actors, facts and artifacts, and events since the terror hoaxes of the early 2016 campaign to suggest that additional hypotheses can be made or additional facts can be obtained to meet the legal standard of a crime. That would be the Truth, and that would be Justice.
What Pascale, Trump and others have continued to do is to simply discourage an investigation that worries them -- to avoid acquiring additional facts.
IF they are so innocent of wrongdoing, if their man is innocent, they would be confident that no additional facts and inferences can be made. So they wouldn't attempt to stop the investigation.
But you can look at the factual landscape so far. There are a couple cards showing; Mueller has a lot of other cards that are still face-down.
They want to stop the investigation, and they want to derail both Justice and the Truth.
