We had some decent weather this weekend (High 40s, maybe 50 mid day), so I made a little bit of progress on the bike. While back I noticed that the forks are bit off when the top clamp is dead straight, so I took the whole front end apart. Good news is the forks are straight, looks like the upper and lower clamps are the issue; should be getting replacements hopefully next week.
60 dollar motorcycle lift from ebay came in super handy, I have the back wheel lifted with a pitbull stand and the front raised against the first head. Dead stable.
Also discovered this little gem when taking it apart:
Someone rigged up the alternator output cables to the VRM with stupid little clamps and electrical tape. Of course these things ended up melting everything, including the battery plate behind them. Apparently not an uncommon issue, but replacing the connector with little speaker clips isn't a fix for a 30amp connector.
