Ducati 1199 Panigale vs BMW S1000RR vs Aprilia RSV4 APRC

not sure if any of them have been heavily revised in the past couple of model years.

I see. Also, why are the Euro bikes so expensive? THe Japanese ones are like $13k max while the Euro bikes go as far as $36k. That's crazy expensive for a bike. What makes up for the price difference?

they are considered premium brands for bikes.

japanese bike prices have been creeping up slowly though...back in like 2004, an R1 was ~11k, now it's 14.5k. the CBR1000/GSXR1000/ZX10R are all priced similarly.

at least for 2012, the R1 got TCS and a few other minor things. looks like it was last majorly overhauled in 2009.

At $15,000 the BMW isn't that much more than the Japanese bikes. It is the ultimate track day weapon.

Hmm... I thought the BMW would finally be dethroned. Strange that they can't get the thing sorted and win a race in WSBK.

Whoa, interesting. Would have thought the 1199 would have won easily but that extra $6k really hurts if it doesn't stand head and shoulders above the competition.

I'm gonna leave this here...Daytona 675R v. MV F3

Wonder if Triumph will ever release a literbike race bike?

A friend of mine rides one of these. He has over 50,000 miles on it in fact. Bought it new in 2003.

Wow, surprised the BMW took it. Amazing leap forward. I do have to say though, I still have a soft spot for the beauty of the 1199.

I visited the BMW R&D Center in Munich last year and was surprised to learn that all employees of the Motorcycle division must have a motorcycle license and are asked to commute on them daily.

Ducati has a long history of building lust worthy sportbikes that lose comparo's.
Toss in great factory race teams and riders and it gets even more "emotional"

I'm not surprised at all that BMW is silly slapping the 1199 in reviews popping up all over. That doesn't make the 1199 a bad bike. It just means that the BMW is a really great bike. What I would like to see is greater variety of road courses in the reviews to get a better sense of how power delivery compares between the bikes.

I'd really like to see the service manual on the 1199. Be interesting to see how it's going to be to work on.
