Interesting, my short take aways:

Definitely more powerful but the devs need to be more responsible. Thus, it should only be handled by pros.

There are major differences between architectures and so closer to the metal means they have to take into account best practices.

It's going to be even more important for IHVs to provide indepth details of their architectures to allow developers to best optimize their hardware.

Really things we already knew.

I'm actually happy to see AMD and nVidia doing something togetther for once, just so everyone could benefit. This joint event was really neccessary.

So the slides confirm what some of us have kept saying. Individual optimizations are required.

They actually do a lot of these things together @ GDC. Marketing is where they differ heavily, but the developers often play nicely ;)
