Imaging 2 mobile bartons running in SMP at 2700mhz each...mmm...Bartons...

Can this be done? Also, I would want a motherboard with normal PCI slots, not those lousy PCI-X slots that are incompatible with 99% of the stuff out there.

I would imagine a rig of this sort would be very cheap to assemble, especially compared to a Xeon/Opteron rig. Can this be done, captain?

Ive heard that the mobile bartons are SMP enabled allowing dual bartons to work on a dual mobo.

However, I havent heard of a duallie being able to get anywhere near as good fsb overclocks as most single cpu chips get.

I believe Mingon has tried this.

because duals are harder to overclock i would imagine with good mobile chips you should reach 2500mhz . this is just a guess on my part and will depend on cooling and luck

you can either modify the multipliers by painting the pins or useing wire trick. or if you want to you can buy multiplier changers .

Yes, yes and err yes. My machine has 2 x 2500xp-m. Currently running only 2.266 as I need to up the multiplier to 18x as high bus speeds corrupt my scsi card.

Mingon and I are both running K7D-L rigs. Every MPX mobo has some PCI-X slots, and furthermore, the 32 bit PCI on that chipset is crippled in write speed and is not good to use for things like RAID cards etc.

The K7d-l is still widely available in the UK and getting cheaper. Its a great setup for the cost and is a photoshop monster.
