DualDisc + Apple == Busted

Modeps

Sorry hit enter by accident.

My wife went out and bought Bon Jovi's latest CD, it's one of those ultra-l33t one side is a CD the other is a DVD "DualDisc" things. She puts it into my powerbook to import it and what do you know, it doesnt work at all. It took about 15 minutes for the drive to give up the CD after having to forcequit iTunes.

GREAT!

What's the excuse for that? Is it supposedly reading the reverse side as well?

Article on issue with DualDisc CDs.

That article is pretty poor. All it is, is a bunch of industry execs saying that there havent been enough complaints, so they're OK in their book. I just talked to a friend of mine who gave me the solution, I've gotta use my PC to rip it, then transfer the files over to the apple. He has a powerbook and has the exact same problem. 🙁

What drive do they use in that thing? Something different than DELL, HP, IBM or Toshiba?

It's the Superdrive, I'm not sure who makes it though.

edit: Just found it, looks like Pioneer makes the superdrive.
