hey there fellas.
i've been wanting to dualboot w/ win2kpro and and winme. unfortunately, i hadn't been able to buy a win2k cd until recently. could anyone explain to me how i would go about installing win2k?
could i just install it straight off of the network. could i copy to hd and install?
is the cd install better?
please help
also, i have 1 drive (15GB WD) as a single drive
and the 2nd drive partitioned as d and e. i currently have files on D (lots of them, and not enough space on e to move the files there.)
would i be able to install win2k on drive e?

if not, what steps do i have to take to be able to dual boot.
lastly, my floppy drive doesn't work- will that be a problem since win2k will ask for the floppy for the highpoint controller of my mobo but i can't supply it?

thx in advance

comp specs for win2k:
celeron366 (not o/c to 550 anymore)
128MB PC100 SDRAM
13.5GB WD HD
30GB Maxtor HD
48X Memorex CDROM
abit be6 mobo

Yeah your floppy drive should work and a CD would be better. I never tried to install from HD, possibly this works.

You will need a bootmanager to choose which OS to boot. You can use Win2k's boot manager or some other. (If Win2k detects another OS on your HD, it will install its own bootmanager.)

Remember that WinME cannot access the NTFS filesystem Win2k uses! I would make a FAT16/Fat32 DATA partition to store your data you want to use with both OSes.

Note: Your Win2k partition should be at least 2 Gb big, because after finishing installation Win2k is pretty big.

need help doods.
i copied win2k to my d drive and ran the installation from there.
everything in windows went fine, but when the comp restarted and it went into the dos portion of the win2k install it gave me an error after installing all the files- inacessible disk.
if this is your first time seeing this message, restart your computer and try again. if not, run chkdisk to check for corruption.
the disk is not corrupt, i continue to get the same error.

how do i go about deleting the files that win2k install copied to my C drive?
thx

p.s. want to get rid of the stupid os/win2k setup selection

finally got everything working...
i accidentally deleted my bootsect.dos file from winme (woopsie)
had to put the hd in my 2nd comp to move the file back to where it belonged,

the problem was my udma66 driver. didn't realize that i was using an old nt4 driver instead of the newer 2k driver. nevertheless, up and running smoothly. yay! ;)

can anyone help me w/ setting up accounts/restrictions for my kids? thx
i already setup the accounts as under restricted, but how can i specify the files they are able to access?
thx

Right click a folder, then sharing, then permissions: there you can specify which user is allowed to read/write/full access.

Do anything in administrator mode, then test it in user mode.
