Recommendation: buy the RAM straight from Crucial.com after selecting your mobo using their memory selector. This gets you an iron-clad lifetime warranty on it.

Recommendation #2: make sure your case will handle that board. It's a big one, and look where the CPUs are located too. :)

Also... a dual-Xeon server running on a desktop-caliber ATA hard drive? If either fault-tolerance or disk performance are desirable to you, then how about throwing an LSI Logic 21320-R and a pair of SCSI drives into the mix for a basic RAID1 fault-tolerant setup, plus the obvious longevity and performance benefits.

Thanks!

I will try to buy from Crucial to get the lifetime warrenty!

I am pretty sure the case will fit the mobotherboard which is 12" x 13"

This server is for a game server so the hard drive won't be used much, mostly the CPU and the RAM.

If you have any more suggestions, I am all open ears!

Is there a reason you don't just build two completely-separate systems for this project? Assuming you're interested primarily in an Intel setup, two Pentium4 2.8C's on two i875P boards that feature the optional CSA gigabit, with two PC3200 memory modules each (so you have dual-channel operation enabled), would probably give you significantly more overall game-server performance (including the network performance) and save you money at the same time, even if you factor in an extra case, PSU and hard drive.

Antec's SLK3700AMB is a decent budget case/PSU combo if you need a suggestion. On the motherboard, note that CSA Gigabit is optional and not all i865PE/i875P boards have it... most don't. You can hit the Intel motherboard selector thingie to help weed them out. It gives the gigabit NIC its own dedicated bus. Also, I would stick with PATA for the hard drive on the basis of simpler setup, after trying to help people with some of the thornier SATA stuff :p
