Dual Xeon Processor

Hi, there,

Can two Xeon processors with different cache size be mixed up?
Say, one is 2.4 GHz Xeon with 512K/L2, the other 256K, assume the mobo supports dual processors.
If it works, how does the difference affect the performance?
Thank you.

Strictly speaking, yes, it can be done, but I HIGHLY recommend against it. Intel won't provide any support for mixed cache size SMP.
