I just installed a Crucial M4 SSD in my mid-2009 13" MBP, and moved the HDD to the optibay. Installed Lion and used migration assistant, all seems okay far but I can't access some of the files in my old home folder. I've tried giving the old folder 777 permissions but can't get into the Music folder so my iTunes isn't working properly at the moment. Any suggestions?

TIA

You need to make sure that the internal shock sensor works on the HDD, to stop head travel. If not, the HDD should be moved back to its original place. I'm not sure if the new MBPs have this for both, but I remember seeing an article where it was only present on the original position.

Thanks, from what I gathered there is SMS protection in the main HDD bay only, but having the SSD in the dvd bay could cause wake issues. SMS is only needed when my laptop suddenly falls / moves yeah? If so I'd rather have a smooth sleep/wake experience from the SSD...

Back to the original question, I logged in as root and did chown -R (recursive) after some Googling. Looks like I have access to the old home folder now. Hopefully all my iTunes ratings/playlists are still intact!
